British Chevening Scholarships, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and administered by the British Council, are prestigious awards which enable overseas students to study in the United Kingdom. Scholarships are offered in over 150 countries and enable talented graduates and young professionals to become familiar with the UK and gain skills which will benefit their countries. The Chevening programme currently provides around 2,300 new scholarships each year for postgraduate studies or research at UK institutions of Higher Education. Scholarships for Commonwealth citizens to study in UK and other Commonwealth countries. Apply early through Commonwealth Scholarship Agency in country of residence.

These scholarships are available for all full-time postgraduate Masters courses. These awards are available through Heriot-Watt to assist students from developing Commonwealth countries to come to the UK for a one-year taught Masters degree when they would otherwise be financially unable to do so. The award has an upper age limit of 35 with preference given to applicants under 30 years of age. Government employees are ineligible. Awards made under this programme must be relevant to the economic, scientific and social development of the applicants' home country. The scheme is administered by the Association of Commonwealth Universities and applicants must have or expect to attain the equivalent of a UK First Class Honours Degree.
The Scholarships cover:
* tuition fees;
* a maintenance grant of £689 per month;
* an arrival allowance of £689;
* air fare to and from the UK.

In partnership with the Heart of Midlothian Football Academy, Heriot-Watt University offers football bursaries to players who wish to continue their development while studying for a degree classification. Whether you are working with a professional club or are aspiring to become a professional either during or post your time at the University, then our programme will be able to support your progress. You will be eligible to represent the University in the Scottish Universities League and the Semi-Professional East of Scotland League. Support includes twice weekly team sessions, twice weekly individual sessions, Sports Science and Medicine Support and finally access to our excellent football facilities which provide indoor, outdoor and grass surfaces. A number of scholarships are awarded annually in the form of free music tuition for instrumentalists and vocalists who have been accepted onto a course. Awards last for one year with the probability of annual extension for the full period of study at University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of their musical ability. If eligible, students may additionally apply for an academic scholarship. Further information is available from the University's Musician in Residence, Steve King.

New in 2008, Sports Bursaries have been introduced to offer students the opportunity to represent Heriot-Watt at the top level, while continuing to train and develop as an elite athlete while studying at the University. Athletes are offered a comprehensive range of support packages to cover all aspects of training and competition whilst studying for a degree classification.

The Centre for Sport and Exercise has been running its Sports Scholarship Programme for over 20 years. The programme offers support in the region of £2,000 to athletes considered to be of national standard in any of our 32 Sports Union sports. Always expanding, our programme now offers Sports Science and Sports Medicine support, academic flexibility, financial support for training and competition expenses, scholar clothing and access to the Centre for Sport and Exercise facilities. For students taking Masters in Vision and Robotics (vibot) and Erasmus Mundus Photonics some EU student grants that will cover tuition fees are available. Number of Awards: Limited
Gives students a £2,500 fee remission on tuition fees; available for all full-time postgraduate taught courses offered by the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS).

Availability: Students may not have spent more than 12 months in the past 5 years in an EU country. Students from EU countries, EU applicant countries, Norway, Switzerland or Iceland are not eligible.

The course is run in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and Umea Business School, Sweden. Award of scholarships is decided by the Joint Consortium of the three Educational Institutions. Only available for the Masters in Strategic Project Management (European) course. Scholarships of €35,600.

These scholarships provide full fees for up to three years. Applicants must be undertaking research in a field of relevance to the built environment. Scholarships are award on merit and recipients must demonstrate how they will cover maintenance costs during their period of study.
Applications for scholarships for Postgraduate Research study would be decided on merit after an application for full time PhD study has been made. To apply for the scholarships above, applicants should note any funding for which they would like to be considered on the Application for Postgraduate Study and Research against Question 16a and 16b in the first instance.

These Scholarships provide full University fees and a contribution towards maintenance of around £2,000 to £5,000 per annum for up to three years. Students must be undertaking research in a field of relevance to the built environment. Recipients must demonstrate how they will cover the balance of their maintenance costs (estimated as £13,000 per year) during their period of study.
Applications for scholarships for Postgraduate Research study would be decided on merit after an application for full time PhD study has been made. To apply for the scholarships above, applicants should note any funding for which they would like to be considered on the Application for Postgraduate Study and Research against Question 16a and 16b in the first instance.
